Prince of Peace Reflections

I'm assembling some items for the Christmas Eve sermon, today.  This year, I will be reflecting on Isaiah 9 "He shall be called... the Prince of Peace."  What does that mean in a time of war?

So, today I am looking at three items that I can easily link to and share.  The first is an excerpt from a diary of a Canadian sailor in 1940, celebrating Christmas through a storm at sea

Next, reports of the famous "Christmas Truce" in the trenches of World War I.

Finally, the speech of President Obama reflecting back on the mission in Iraq as the bases are decommissioned and the soldiers come home. This Christmas, many of our Armed Forces members will be back home for the holidays.  Some of them have known anything but peace, so the message of the Prince of Peace at this time of year is so important.
