Sermon Notes for July 13

 This Sunday, I am launching a summer sermon mini-series based on Paul's letter to the Colossians starting with Colossians 1:1-14. 

The purpose of this letter is to remind the Colossian Christians of the firm foundation their faith is based on so they can better stand up to the other teachings and philosophies around them. Paul begins with a prayer that reminds us of the faith, love and hope we have "in Christ" that establishes us in knowledge, wisdom and understanding to share with the world! 

Join me at Bethany Lutheran in Alexandria, Virginia this Sunday and for the next few weeks as we look at the "Foundations of the Faithful" through Colossians! At 9, follow the coffee smells to the kitchen and join me for fellowship and a study of each chapter of Colossians. Then follow me to the sanctuary at 10 to worship and hear four sermons based on Paul's important writing for the whole church! I'd prefer to see you in person, but if you cannot be there, you can stream the service too. 

Colossians is a short letter with some deep teaching and important counsel for Christians. I'd encourage everyone to watch this excellent overview by the Bible Project to see the overall message of the letter.
